Back in the day, when forum boards were a thing, having a signature was the epitome of cool! It was another way to identify and express yourself. It was similar to your username (nickname), but unlike your username which used to change between forums, your signature didn't.

As time passed, forums solely focused on creating these graphics emerged. I created some of them that were popular in the Spanish tagging community. But, as everything on the World Wide Web, when Facebook and other social media sites started to become popular, forums became a thing of the past and GFX forums died, along with the whole culture.

One of the things that hurt the most, besides the death of forums, was the downfall of image hosting services like Tinypic and the shift in philosophy of premium-oriented hosting and services like Photobucket. It all contributed to the demise of this form of expression and serves as a reminder that not everything on the internet is written in ink.

A few years ago, as Photobucket started to put watermarks on every non-premium image, I began to make a backup of some of the most distinctive taggers of the forums I used to frequent. This is my shrine to them and to that era of the internet.
